Hey guys, just wanted to give you a quick update on ReaderLine. Those of you that missed the last couple of posts, I’m building a Google Reader replacement and it’s ReaderLine.com.

I really didn’t think about it much when I decided to build it. I just did it for fun. It was supposed to be a weekend project. But now it’s taking a lot of time, I didn’t realize how complicated the architecture would be for an RSS reader.

But at the same time, I’m glad that I did it. And what I love about this idea is that I have a small window of time to launch. Google is killing the reader on July 1st I think and that only gives me around 3 months. So I have to push hard to make it happen. But still, I’m not too worried as my idea was to make something ready and working with minimum features within a couple of weeks. Actually, it was couple of days, but now it’s turning into at least a couple of weeks :)

Here is a screenshot on the latest version of ReaderLine

While, I still have a lot of work to do, I think it’s getting there. I used a few new technologies in this project that had some learning curve but I’m glad I did as now I can provide much better user experience.
