I had a very busy week, fallowed by the weekend.  I attended one day of DomainFest and it was great. A Great place to meet domainers of all levels, and what’s also great is that you get to meet representatives from all different domain related companies.

This was great because I could ask and get instant answers to my questions/concerns.

I took a little time off this weekend and it’s because my server guys were going to update my server. So I couldn’t really do much work and you may have noticed that some of my sites were down for a few hours today.

By the way, if you have a dedicated or virtual server, be sure that you do your regular maintenance. It is critical to keep your server safe and software updated to support latest and greatest things. In my case, my php version was getting out of date, I had 5.2…, the new big update is 5.3. There were a number of major changes and a lot of the php scripts out there have started to only support 5.3. This may be the case for future version of wordpress too, so if you heavily use wordpress and keep it updated, make sure your backend can support future updates.

DomainingAds.com – I’ve spend last few days on creating the backend of this system. This is an interesting little project of mine. It will initially be used only by my sites but I’m hoping that I can expend it. In the next few days, you will notice that all ads on my sites are replaced with DomainingAds. And it’s a little surprise as to what ads these are.

TopDrops.com – Newsletter is almost done, but I haven’t been able to finish it yet. This is what happens when you have dozens of projects to work on. Just keep in mind that I’m going to implement the payment system after the newsletter and once that’s done, it’ll no longer be free. So if you haven’t registered or used TopDrops yet, be sure to check it out. It really finds a lot of great domains.

FastestGrowingStartups/FastestGrowingStartups.com – I had an interesting idea and thought that I should do something about it. I’ve noticed that I really like reading success stories and even better when you get a chance to be in the room with the founder and be able to ask questions. I think a lot of people feel the same way and since so many of us are trying to launch our own startup,  we really need to get more inspiration/motivation/knowledge. So I created the FastestGrowingStartups meetup and what I plan to do is invite founders from different fastest growing startups and have them speak in our meetup events. Our members will have a chance to hear these stories and hopefully learn from the best. This meetup is Los Angeles based for the moment, but if this grows enough, it may eventually be a conference. Again, I really think that the best way you learn is by learning from the most successful startup founders. They’ve been there and done that, they know what you’re going through and hopefully will give you tips and knowledge that will save you a lot of time/money. As you noticed, I was able to register the FastestGrowingStartups.com, to my surprise it was available. If you’re in LA, be sure to join to our meetup.

Back To School – I’m taking a couple of fun classes at our local community college. I’m going to try to take Guitar playing class, lol, I’ve never been into music that much, but I figure, you should really learn as much as you can and have wide range of skills. I’ve also decided to take a few ice skating lessons, we’ll see how that goes. I’m a little afraid of falling though, lol. But I hear it’s fun.

That’s it, I hope you guys are having a great weekend.
