I came across to Domain Boot Camp a couple of days ago and I think it’s a great idea. It’s two-day intensive workshop offered by pros, Sharon Hayes and Steve Jones. I think boot camps are great way to do rapid learning. While it’s true that you can learn most of it on your own, via blogs/research, but boot camps have greater value. I’ve started seeing this trend more and more in all sorts of industries. I’ve seen this done by real estate agents, consultants, mortgage brokers, marketers, writers, lawyers so on. Many domainers work on domains part time and still have a full time job. With the economy where it is and unemployment so high, I wanted to share a few points to help you land your next job if you’re in need of one. I often interview candidates at work and am a little surprised that many still do so poorly when it comes to the interview.
Monitoring site traffic can be addicting. When first launching sites, I find myself checking the traffic at least a few times a day. Then, after a while, you start checking once day, once every couple of days and eventually weekly or monthly. I could never understand the wide use of .co.uk. I always questioned why would anyone even register such domain when they could have chosen the top level domain. I would even see these being sold and made to DNJournal list. [Read the rest of this entry...]
First I want to applaud people behind .co registry as I think it’s the best marketed ccTld so far. The trouble is that it’s always going to confuse people and they’re going to go to the .com instead of .co. There was a funny moment on the radio the other day and I thought to share it.

I often get emails to valuate brandable domains and usually, my response is a negative one. Don’t get me wrong, brandable domains are great to create a brand on, but when it comes to selling them, it’s much tougher. Brandable domains are like a lottery ticket to me and thought that it’d be interesting to compare them.

I had a very busy week, fallowed by the weekend. I attended one day of DomainFest and it was great. A Great place to meet domainers of all levels, and what’s also great is that you get to meet representatives from all different domain related companies.
